The week of June 1st – 7th 2023 marked the 39th year of Volunteers Week. It’s a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make to our communities and say thank you.

Volunteers are always active at the heart of every UK community, and none more so than here at Bridges, where an often silent team of volunteers help us daily with various projects. Marianne Piper, Volunteer for Wellbeing Co-ordinator for Monmouth, Usk and Raglan, this year decided to recognise the immense contribution of these unsung heroes by hosting the inaugural Bridges Monmouth Area Volunteer Awards.

Marianne told us- “It is such a pleasure to work as a volunteer co-ordinator and see the incredible impact our local volunteers have in the area.  The awards evening was a wonderful way of shining a light on the wonderful work these incredible people do.”

Volunteers from the Monmouth area were invited along for a drinks reception in the Gallery followed by the award ceremony in the Ballroom. The evening was a celebration of all our volunteers and their ongoing contributions to the community, with awards in categories that covered the environment, Bridges Car Scheme, community shop and more.

The Tuesday group at Social Circles made a wonderful contribution to the evening by spending some of their time making floral table centres which were deeply appreciated.

We would like to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all of our volunteers, not just those in attendance, and not just the winners on the night. That said, there had to be some volunteers who walked away with awards, scroll down to find out who they were.
