Everyone needs some level of social interaction to feel supported, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable.
Established in 1984, Bridges is an independent Monmouth-based charity. Our aim has always been to enhance the wellbeing of the local community. We make a difference to the lives of older people, rurally isolated people, young adults with additional needs, people with mobility challenges and those who are economically disadvantaged.
Since 2003, the base for our work has been Drybridge House, the large 17th century Grade II mansion, which is an important part of Monmouth’s heritage.
Our door is open to people from all ages and backgrounds. We are able to accommodate the diverse needs of mother and toddler groups, children, young people with learning difficulties and social challenges, the able-bodied, the elderly, the vulnerable and the socially isolated.
At Bridges, we allow you to learn new skills, make friends, build social connections, and contribute to society through volunteering. We hold more than 60 regular meetings per week and provide a wide range of services. These include Bereavement Support, the National Childbirth Trust as well as practical services such as the mobile Nat West bank.
We play a vitally important role to society by offering our services to the local community and by providing a base for four charities, local health visitors and 15 self-help support groups.
As well as providing vital support to our communities, we also support with enterprise and job creation. We provide an affordable and connected base for small businesses, start-ups and freelancers by offering hot-desking, permanent occupancy and room rental for meetings.
