Fundraise for us

Whether this is your first time fundraising or you’ve done it before, find out how you can raise money to support Bridges and help us provide our wellbeing services for future generations of Monmouthshire residents. Whether you raise £30, £300 or £3000, you’ll be helping to support the vital work that we do across a variety of Monmouthshire communities.

Why we need your support

For over 40 years, people like you have played their part in caring for the many elderly, vulnerable, isolated and disabled communities of Monmouthshire. Thanks to your support, we continue to look after the wellbeing of those who need our services the most. Whether it is a car scheme ride to a vital appointment, a trip out from school on our Trishaw or a weekly social for the elderly with activities and a cooked meal, your generosity in raising funds helps us to maintain these important services.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has caused a sharp and sustained drop in our income. This threatens our wellbeing and outreach work at a time when access to such services is needed more than ever.

By fundraising for Bridges Centre, you’ll be helping us to continue our essential work, caring for people and communities to ensure that they can flourish and thrive whilst living their best lives.

How your fundraising could help

  • £125 could help an isolated person use our community car scheme up to 250 times per year!
  • £550 could fund two days of facilitated activities for disabled children
  • £2,500 could provide a warm meal at one of our Social Circles groups every week for 9 months

How to get involved

1 Choose your challenge

Let your imagination run wild and choose whatever challenge you like. You could combine a personal desire to get fit with an active challenge such as a half marathon, swim or cycle challenge – or it could be as simple as completing 20 cartwheels in one go! If an active challenge isn’t your thing you could set a challenge of reading a book a week for a year, paint a picture continuously for 10 hours or play an instrument non-stop for a day. You can set just about any challenge you would like to do.

2 Set up an online fundraising page

Now that you have decided what your challenge or activity is going to be, the easiest way to raise money is to set up a Just Giving page. Share this as widely as possible, with friends family and on your social media, ask as many people as you know to sponsor your challenge. You can even make it a friendly competition to see who can raise the most money.

3 Complete and share your challenge

Hopefully by now you will see the donations rolling in so all that is left to do is complete your fundraising challenge whilst having lots of fun doing it. Be sure to let us know what you are up to and we will help raise further awareness for you, and of course, share your success with your sponsors. We’d love to see what you are up to so post videos or pictures to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Top tips for fundraising

Don’t go it alone

Getting friends, family and colleagues involved can help to share the load, spread the word and make any challenge more fun. Think about who could join in with you.

Boost donations

Be sure to share your online fundraising page far and wide. Post it on your social media, around your local community as well as the local newspaper.

Set a target

It doesn’t matter if your challenge lasts for an hour, several days, months or even a year; setting a target helps to keep you motivated and will inspire others to support you.

Track your progress

Keeping a close eye on your progress will help to keep you motivated throughout the duration of your challenge. There are many ways to track your progress including apps, charts or even keeping a diary.

Most importantly, enjoy it!

Be sure to have lots of fun with your challenge. Whatever you have decided to take on you are doing something amazing that will benefit so many people in our community. Be sure to enjoy the moment and cherish the memories that you are making along the way.

A big thank you from Bridges

Whatever your challenge, remember that every penny you raise will help us to look after the many people in our local communities that we care for. You’re doing something amazing for us all so thank you!
