What We Do Across Monmouthshire
Bridges is an independent county-wide charity working across Monmouthshire to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and create opportunities for people of all ages.
Through nine service areas delivered by 32 specialist staff and supported by over 370 volunteers, we work with more than 1,500 residents and families each year.
Our work is built around four core pillars.
🟢 Connection & Community
We create welcoming spaces and meaningful relationships that reduce loneliness and strengthen community life.
Isolation affects people of all ages. Through befriending, social groups and volunteering opportunities, we help people feel connected, valued and supported.
Includes:
- Befriending (130 beneficiaries supported by 90+ volunteers)
- Weekly Social Circles (75 older residents attending)
- Community-based activities
- Community Shop volunteering opportunities

🔵 Children, Young People & Families
We support children and families facing additional challenges to build confidence, skills and resilience.
Our disability and inclusion services provide safe, inclusive programmes that help young people thrive while offering guidance and reassurance to families.

🟡 Independence & Practical Support
We remove barriers that prevent people from accessing essential services and living independently.
Our practical support services ensure residents can reach medical appointments and maintain independence within their communities.

- Community Car Scheme
- 3,000 passenger journeys annually
- 1,300 passengers supported
- 50+ volunteer drivers

🟠 Voice, Opportunity & Participation
We empower people to have a voice and play an active role in their communities.
Through advocacy and volunteering, we help individuals build confidence, develop skills and influence the services that affect their lives.

Our Community Hub in Monmouth
While our work reaches communities across Monmouthshire, our community hub in Monmouth — Bridges Centre — provides a base for many activities, services and volunteering opportunities.
It is one part of our wider county-wide mission.
