After 3 weeks of anticipation, the much-loved Bridges Community Shop has officially reopened its doors, welcoming back loyal customers and supporters. The reopening marks a fresh chapter for the store, which has been a staple of the local community for 8 years.
The community shop, known for its wide selection of affordable second-hand clothing, books, and household items, had temporarily closed for minor renovations and a lick of paint. During this period, volunteers and staff worked tirelessly to revamp the space, making it more inviting and organized for shoppers. The refreshed shop now boasts a brighter interior, improved displays, and dedicated shopping zones to enhance the customer experience.
At the reopening event on Monday 10th March, Monmouth mayor David Evans ‘cut the ribbon’ before customers were greeted with special discounts, refreshments, and a warm welcome from the shop’s dedicated team. Many supporters expressed their excitement about the return of the store, emphasizing its importance not only as a place to find bargains but also as a hub for social connection and charitable giving.
Trustee Sue Eldridge, who organised the refit, had this to say:
“Having been closed for refurbishment for 3 weeks, we are delighted our community shop has re-opened and we are welcoming back our customers old and new. Our dedicated staff and volunteers have worked hard to get everything ready for the new look shop and we have received great reviews so far. The shop forms an integral part of the charity’s mission to support the people of Monmouthshire and all income generated is for the benefit of the local community. By supporting us through donated goods or by shopping with us you too can help make a real difference to your community. Come take a look”
The revenue generated from sales will continue to go towards funding the numerous wellbeing services that Bridges run countywide, reinforcing the shop’s vital role in aiding those in need. The team is also encouraging new volunteers to join, emphasizing that even a few hours a week can make a significant impact.
With its doors open once again, the shop invites the community to visit, donate, and support a good cause. Whether you are hunting for unique finds or looking to contribute to a meaningful initiative, the shop offers an opportunity to give back while finding treasures along the way.
