🌿 Leave a Gift in Your Will
Remembering Bridges. Supporting Future Generations.
For over 40 years, Bridges has supported people across Monmouthshire to stay connected, independent and valued within their community.
By choosing to leave a gift in your Will, you can help ensure that this support continues for generations to come.
A legacy gift is a deeply personal decision. We understand that your loved ones will always come first. After providing for family and friends, some people choose to remember a cause that has mattered to them during their lifetime.
Even a small percentage of an estate can make a lasting difference.
Why Consider Leaving a Gift?
Legacy gifts help us:
-
Reduce loneliness and isolation
-
Provide community transport and practical support
-
Sustain volunteer-led wellbeing services
-
Respond to emerging needs across Monmouthshire
Because these gifts are invested carefully and used thoughtfully, they help secure the long-term future of local services.
A Gift That Reflects What Matters to You
You may choose to:
-
Leave a share of your estate (a residuary gift)
-
Leave a fixed sum of money (a pecuniary gift)
-
Leave a specific item or asset
Some supporters choose to leave their gift “where it is needed most,” allowing us to respond to the areas of greatest need at the time.
Others prefer to support a particular service that has personal meaning.
If your gift is in memory of someone special, you may wish to note this in your Will. If you feel comfortable doing so, we would be honoured to know.
Suggested Wording for Your Solicitor
If you decide to leave a gift to Bridges, you may find the following wording helpful. We recommend that you seek professional legal advice when preparing or updating your Will.
Residuary Gift (a share of your estate):
“I give ___% of my residuary estate to Bridges (registered charity number 1079085) of Monmouthshire, absolutely, for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the proper officer for the time being of the charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.”
Pecuniary Gift (a fixed sum):
“I give the sum of £_____ to Bridges (registered charity number 1079085) of Monmouthshire, absolutely, for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the proper officer for the time being of the charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.”
If you wish to direct your gift to a specific service, we recommend discussing wording with your solicitor to ensure clarity.
