🌱 Spring is stirring at Bridges – progress, petals & a £100 prize!
With the first signs of spring arriving, there’s a real sense of renewal and quiet progress across everything we’re doing.
Taking full advantage of the brighter weather, our wonderful volunteer gardeners have been hard at work — joining us twice this week alone. There’s been plenty of weeding, alongside the careful lifting and relocating of delicate snowdrops to help them flourish for seasons to come. It’s a small but powerful reminder that even in a year of rebuilding, growth is very much underway.
Inside the building, progress continues steadily. Caretakers Simon, Tony and Jamie
have been busy refreshing the first-floor communal areas with painting and general improvements, helping to breathe new life into these important shared spaces.
Behind the scenes, numerous building surveys have taken place as we prepare for the next stages of essential restoration work. While much of this activity isn’t always visible day-to-day, it represents important steps forward in bringing Bridges fully back to life.
Meanwhile, Richard has been hard at work installing a nearly-new kitchen, very kindly donated to us, which will enhance the communal space on the first floor.

There have been some more joyful moments too — not least Marianne taking delivery of our replacement trishaw. It’s already bringing smiles and we’re excited to see it out in the community very soon, helping people reconnect with the simple pleasure of being outdoors.
And finally, a little Easter excitement…
Our Community Shop Easter Raffle is now well underway, with tickets available for just £1. Every penny raised goes directly towards supporting people across Monmouthshire.
Prizes include:
🐣 A beautiful Easter hamper
🌿 A £100 Millbrook Garden Centre voucher
The draw takes place on 2nd April, so be sure to grab your tickets soon! Available in the shop.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Whether through volunteering, fundraising, or simply staying connected with us, you are part of everything that makes Bridges so special.
With warm wishes for the season ahead.
